Usage guide for Compositing with Carbon Basic
Getting Started

There are three ways to start a new composite:
1) From the main window start the Composite Utility
Select the desired resolution and aspect ratio from the preset list. You may start with a preset and modify any parameters, or enter entirely new parameters.

After defining a new profile you may add the profile for later use by clicking on "Add". User defined profiles are saved in the project file.

You may change the profile after working on a composite (from the composite editor: Settings->Format), so don't worry about getting it right the first time. This feature also allows reuse of composites in other projects, for example using a composite originally designed for DVD in an HD or 4K project.

This dialog will appear every time the composite editor is entered via the main menu, allowing different resolution/aspect ratio combinations to exist within one gallery.

2) Right click anywhere on the browser, then click on "Add file".
If the file is usable its icon will be added to the browser, you may then double click the icon to start compositing using this image as the first element.
3) Drag and drop any usable image file onto the browser.
If the file is usable its icon will be added to the browser, you may then double click the icon to start compositing using this image as the first element.

When starting a composite using the second or third method the new composite will have the same resolution and aspect ratio as the file used to start it. You may change this by clicking on Settings, then Format.
